Fluid Technology a Division of Milacron LLC. The training journey on which you are about to embark will make you an expert in the sales, application and support of CIMCOOL’s Range of Industrial Fluids.

Before we begin it is important to understand the Background and history of Milacron and CIMCOOL Which dates back to 1884.

Today, Milacron provides world leading manufacturing solutions to industry. From plastic technologies to industrial fluids Milacron’s 130 years of experience delivers productivity improvements and value backed by outstanding global service and support.

In 1884 the Cincinnati Screw and Tap Company was founded in Cincinnati, Ohio USA.

By 1926 the Mill had expanded its product line to include precision grinding machines.

These were becoming increasingly important to the automotive industry and soon the Mill became the nation's leading machine tool producer.

Cimcool – Since 1945

In 1938 to Cincinnati Milling Machine Co. (later Cincinnati Milacron) set out to study the metal removal process more thoroughly than it had ever been studied before. They were seeking ways to improve the performance of machine tools.

Seven years later one result of their research was the introduction of a revolutionary new product: a chemical cutting fluid known as Cimcool and coloured pink to identify it as unique.

Cimcool was revolutionary. At the time of its introduction in 1945 the cutting fluid choice was between straight cutting oils and soluble oils. Cimcool, because of its water base, cooled nearly twice as fast as straight oils and, unlike oils, did not smoke, cause fire hazards and make parts slippery. Like soluble oils, Cimcool had the excellent cooling capacity of water, but its lubricity, rather than depending primarily on oil, was a chemical lubricity that made higher speeds and better tool life possible. Cimcool was cleaner than soluble oils and because of improved rancidity control lasted longer than other products on the market. Cimcool was such a significant step forward, other companies followed with chemical cutting fluids.

Sixty years later and Cimcool remain the leading innovators in metalworking fluid technology. Over this time the metalworking industry has demanded closer tolerances, higher production, more consistent quality, an improved working environment and the ability to machine increasingly difficult materials. Cimcool has improved and diversified to handle the challenges of a changing industry. With the acquisition of Oak International forming fluids and Producto Chemicals, the Cincinnati Milacron Fluid Technology product line provides a complete industrial fluid solution. Through Cincinnati Milacron research, experience and close contact with customers, the Cimcool revolution continues today.
